Holiday at Lochcarron, Scotland

Why not wake up with this view...?

Hi there,

Thank you for taking the time to have a look at our website.

The above photograph was taken at 8.00am Christmas day morning 2006 from the Parrot House. That's the view from the front windows, downstairs or upstairs. Genuinely, nothing interrupts the view.

We are  Georgina & Alistair Strang. In 2006, we decided to live the dream by selling our business' and house and stay on our boat at Fort William, sailing the West Coast of Scotland or generally messing around on Loch Ness doing private charter work. However, as this is the Highlands of Scotland (Ross-shire), it made sense to own somewhere on dry land to move into over winter. So we decided to rent our own property out as 'self catering' during BST or longer. Currently, we're choosing to winter on the Clyde estuary by Sandbank Marina and local family are looking after guests in Lochcarron as the Parrot House is proving so popular it doesn't make economic sense for us to move in!

Lochcarron is, in our opinion, a perfect location on the West Coast of Scotland. Unusually well catered for when it comes to facilities. It has shops which open all year - something of a rarity in the north of Scotland, a bank, a post office, excellent general store, an award winning butchers shop, tea room, Doctors, Dentists, two petrol stations, one with LPG, and of course the obligatory well stocked gift and coffee shop which has  added a 5 table eatery.

And I almost forgot there's a railway station nearby at Strathcarron... About 3 miles away.

The village also boasts 2 hotels / restaurants and each serves good food including locally caught seafood/game.  If you travel just a couple of miles down the road there are further eateries. There is also a private taxi service in the village.  The hotels stay open all year as do the shops. Oh and it has it’s own village hall which, on occasion, holds dances, live music events and gala dinners!!

The only important caveat is... enjoy yourself.  And if you want to see Loch Ness from our boat, give us a call sometime during your holiday.  If we're not doing private charter work, you are more than welcome to come aboard.
